A typical South Indian breakfast consists of dosa, idlis and Vada. These items are never consumed on their own . Must have sambar and variety of chutneys. Here I am presenting a unique chutney which cannot be found in any restaurant menu. It is high in protein due to the almonds and chickpeas. The spiciness and sourness can be adjusted as per taste.
Recipe :-
Ingredients :-

Oil – 2 tbsp.
Cooked Chickpeas – 1/2 cup
Almonds – 4
Urid Dhal – 1 tbsp.
Dried chili – 4 nos.
Garlic – 6 cloves
Shallots – 6
Big onion – 2
Tomatoes – 2
Tamarind- 1 marble size
Curry Leaves
Salt to Taste
To Temper
Oil – 1tsp.
Urid dhal – 1/2 tsp.
Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp.
Dried chili – 4 small pcs.
Curry leaves
Heat oil and add in urid dhal and almonds.
Add in the garlic, shallots, big onion and green chilis.
Add in the dried chilis as well.
Stir until onions are translucent.
Then add in the tamarind and then the tomatoes.
Precook the chickpeas and set it aside in portions for chutneys.
Cooked chickpeas is added in and stir until combined.
Salt to taste.
Transfer to a plate to cool and grind it coarsely.
Heat oil and the temper the spices, dried chili and curry leaves.
Serve it with hot Idlis or Dosas. Very nutritious and no coconut is added in. Enjoy !!!
