Wendy’s Chili Copycat Recipe – This is easy and takes no more than 15 minutes to prep. It simmers in a pot for 1-3 hours (depends on how much time you have). You can also make this in a crockpot. Just combine everything in the pot after you have browned your meat. Keep it on a low for 5 hours.
SEASONING FOR MEAT:
1/4 Teaspoon of Cumin
1/4 Teaspoon of Garlic
1/4 Teaspoon of Onion
1/4 Teaspoon of Salt
INGREDIENTS FOR CHILI
2.5lbs of Ground Beef (80/20)
1 (30z) Can of Crushed Tomatoes
2 Cups of Water
2 Cans of Kidney Beans
2 Cans of Pinto Beans
1 Large Onion (chopped)
2 Stalks of Celery (diced)
3 Roma Tomotoes (chopped)
3 Teaspoons of Cumin Powder
3 Tablespoons of Chili Powder
1 Teaspoon of Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon of Salt (2 Teaspoons if you drain and rinse your beans)
DIRECTIONS:
1. Seaon Meat and Brown it in a large cooking pot. Drain half of the fat.
2. Add your celery, onion, and tomatoes.
3. Saute in pot until tender and translucent
4. Add in the rest of the ingredients and blend to incorporate.
5. Bring to a boil then once it’s boiling, turn to a lower and simmer with the top off. The top off helps the liquid to not be so thin.
