Squiq curry – Malabar style, a traditional seafood recipe of south India. squid is well known as koonthal or kanava in the southern parts of India. There are several spicy dishes prepared with squid. In this recipe squid is cooked in a gravy of roasted coconut and tempered with shallots and curry leaves. This curry tastes awesome with steamed rice.
Ingredients:
Squid – 500 gm
Oil – 4 tbsp
Grated coconut – 1 cup
pepper corns – 1 tbsp
fennel seed – 1 tsp
cinnamon stick- 3 small
cardamom – 2
cloves – 3
salt
shallots – 10 to 12 chopped (for cooking and tempering)
green chili – 4
Ginger chopped – 1 tbsp
curry leaves – 2 strands
Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp
water – 1/4 cup
mustard – 1 tsp
dry chili – 2
chili Powder – 1/4 tsp
