Grilled Shishito Peppers Recipe

Today I’m gonna show you how to make smoky grilled Shishito Peppers on the stove just like the ones served at a Japanese izakaya. By dry roasting them, you get charred blistered peppers with a wonderful smoky aroma without making an oily mess, and you can season them however you like at the end. I’ve also teamed up with artist @KaileneDanae on this, and she’s painted a beautiful watercolor of the finished dish. Check out her Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/kailenefalls/ for lots of mouthwatering illustrations.

✚ GEAR ✚
You can find most of the kitchen and camera gear I used to make this video in my Amazon shop. Buying things from my shop (even stuff you search for that’s not listed on the page) doesn’t cost you anything extra and it helps to support this channel.

  1. I love all your recipes and will definitely give it a try. You made them look so easy to cook😍😉😊

  2. The watercolor was a nice addition to this video! Shishito must be the "it" pepper now because you can find them even in local markets…which is a great thing, as I can easily try this recipe. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Thank you for this video. I grew Shishito peppers in my garden last year and had several bushels worth for a yield. Half of them were green and half were red. Had I known of this way to prepare them, it would have made for a nice red/green Christmas appetizer.

  4. I make shishito peppers, but only add oil and soy sauce and eat on hot rice. The flavor is so good! Yum!

  5. I love shishito peppers! Thanks for the recipes and the variations. Love watching you and Maki on Bento Expo, too! 🙂

  6. I love these on the grill but I don't know if I can wait for all the snow to melt. I'll be trying this method soon!

  7. Great recipe! Will makes some tonight. Can you share what type of white fridge you have? I am looking for a modern white fridge.

  8. Shishito peppers are my new favorite. I appreciate that the plants are easy to grow and produce so many tasty fruits. You’re not kidding when you say that occasionally one is very hot 😂
