Tips:
Leave out salt when marinating if you wish, because soy already contains some salt.
The best part of beef to use is flank steak.
Ensure to cut against the beef grain to avoid chewy beef
To further tenderize the beef, use the baking soda as I did.
I used olive oil. You can also use any clear cooking oil.
You can leave out sesame oil and shaoxing wine. Also, you can alternate either dark or light soy sauce in this recipe, the taste will still be great.
Ingredients
Beef – 500g (1.1lb) (Any tender beef)
Green Pepper-1 medium (3/4 cup)
Red Pepper- 1 medium (3/4 cup)
Onion- 1 medium
Garlic- 2 cloves
Ginger- 2 tsp (freshly grated)
Vegetable Oil- 2 ½ tbsp for frying
Chicken Marinade:
Black pepper- ½ tsp
Dark Soy Sauce- ½ tbsp
Salt- 1/8 tsp (optional)
Garlic- 2 cloves
Ginger- 2 tsp
Onion powder- ½ tsp
Honey- 1 tbsp
Baking soda- ¼ tsp
Corn Flour- 1 tbsp
Vegetable Oil- ½ tbsp
Sauce:
Chicken broth (low sodium)- ½ cup (or water)
Dark Soy Sauce- 1 tsp
Light soy sauce- 1 tbsp
Oyster Sauce- 1 tbsp (optional)
Shaoxing wine- 1 tbsp (or any rice wine) optional
Sesame oil- ½ tsp
Honey- 1 tbsp
Corn flour- 1 tbsp
