I got this Smokin Ed Curry’s Carolina Reaper plant at a local nursery a few months back. I live in North Eastern Georgia, close to South Carolina where the plants are from. As you may know, this has been an incredibly hot summer. This heat, combined with Georgia clay, seems to have created ideal growing conditions for the plant. My girlfriend has watered them consistently. I soon came to notice our plant was getting large and we had an insane amount of pepper pods forming, which was starting to weigh down the branches. I researched how many pods to expect from a typical plant and have heard many things. Some sources say 15-20, 30, even up to 50 per year. For size I have heard 3-5 feet wide. My plant is 5’7” wide and a lot of peppers are starting to turn red now. I have harvested about 8-10 already and have over 100 still growing and new pods every day. Has anyone had a similar experience growing these or is this out of the ordinary??

Looks way more like ghost peppers and not reapers
Those are some nice looking pods but definitely not reapers. I think ghost peppers.
Nevertheless, delicious peppers.

Regardless of the “is it a reaper or ghost pepper” debate, this plant is totally killing it. Super impressive. Looks great and clearly producing a lottttt of healthy looking peppers.
I’m chiming in to say those are 100% ghost peppers
Great looking plant, reaper or not. My reapers personally have never gotten that long, but my plants have not gotten that large either. My ghosts regularly look like that though
Great plant but it’s hard to have a world record reaper plant when it’s not a reaper plant.
Niiiiice🌶🌶🌶
I remember my ghost pepper doing this. I still have some dried peppers and the plant is still alive as well (in a terracotta pot)
Holy crap that’s a lot of reapers. Mine probably grew 10-15 and they were more short and fat
Not a reaper
Youve got me jealous lol. I struggle in my environment to grow hott peppers. 😩 I’d love to have my own greenhouse someday.
