This is a typical Calabrian recipe, the Italian region known for its very hot chili peppers. The unique flavor of this dish unlike hundreds of recipes found online is obtained only in one way, by frying different types of dried chili peppers in oil and adding peeled tomatoes. You don’t need any garlic or onion or bacon that would alter the taste of fried chili peppers.
We have added fresh basil leaves and freshly grated Italian Grana Padano cheese. And since we love chili pepper, we accompanied the meal with strips of toasted bread in butter with chili peppers in oil and chili cream.
