Hatch green chiles are in season, and I had to make a delicious stew. I used a mild hatch green chile and added a jalapeno to control the heat.
INGREDIENTS
7 Hatch Green Chiles
2 1/2 to 3 lbs of pork shoulder
3 medium-sized potatoes
1 cup of diced onion
1 jalapeno
1 tsp Mexican oregano
4 cloves garlic
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp ground cumin
4 cups chicken broth
4 oz crushed tomato (or 3 or 4 Roma tomatoes)
salt and pepper to taste

I'm visiting new mexico to see my boyfriend and his parents gave us some roasted green chili. We ate some with steak and bone marrow then made a bone broth with the leftover chilis and we made this stew. Was lovely!

I don’t understand the point of browning the meat if you don’t brown it. May as well just Chuck everything in a pot or slow cooker as an easy meal.
