Easy Chili Recipe – Literally One of the Best Basic Chili Recipes in the World!

I consider Chili to be a staple comfort food, especially when it’s cold out! This chili is a very basic recipe and is perfect to serve with a good old fashioned grilled cheese sandwich or cornbread. I will include a link to my cornbread recipe below, it’s fantastic!

Basic Chili Recipe:

1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, diced
2 tbsp chili powder
1 15 oz can tomato sauce
1 14.5 oz can petite diced tomatoes
1 15.5 oz can light or dark kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 tsp of each – salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried oregano

Directions:

Combine ground beef and onion in a large stock pot. Cook and stir over medium heat until the ground beef is fully cooked and the onion is translucent. Drain off fat and return to pot.

Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, kidney beans and seasonings. Add 1 cup of water, stir well and bring to a boil. Once chili comes to a boil, lower heat and bring to a simmer, cover with lid and let simmer for 30 minutes and serve.

* This recipe serves approximately 4 to 6 servings of chili. You can also double or triple this recipe, depending on how many you are feeding. You can also freeze chili and eat it later.
