Gameday Cooking: Oven Baked Chili Cheese Dogs and Chili Cheese Tots

This week’s episode of Gameday Cooking features an easy recipe that takes the classic chili cheese dog a couple of steps further with a rich cheese sauce to bring it all together.

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon Crisco
1 Yellow Onion, Diced
2 Cans of Chili
8 Hot Dogs
8 Hot Dog Buns
8 ounces of American Cheese from the deli
12 ounces of Cheddar Cheese
4 ounces of a White Cheese(i.e. Swiss)
8 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon corn starch
Dried Parsley Flakes
3/4 cup of milk
Fresh Garlic

1. Preheat Oven to 350 degrees

2. Sautee onions over medium heat in crisco

3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter mixed with garlic and dried parsley flakes

4. Take 8 hot dog buns and place open in a baking dish

5. Brush the buns with the butter, garlic and parsley mixture

6. Fill bottom of hot dog buns with shredded cheddar cheese

7. Place hot dogs inside of the buns and top with chili, onions and more shredded cheese

8. Bake hot dogs for 15 minutes at 350 degrees

9. In a separate sauce pan, melt 4 tablespoons of butter on low heat

10. Add 4oz shredded cheddar and 4oz shredded white cheese to pan

11. Once cheddar/white cheese begin to melt, add American cheese and melt on low heat

12. When fully melted, add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of corn starch and stir to combine

13. When hot dogs are done baking, remove from oven and spoon melted cheese sauce over the hot dogs. Let cool 10 minutes.
