Copycat Texas Chili from 24th Street Cafe in Bakersfield CA
1 lb of ground chuck
1 lb of ground lean beef
1 diced onion
1 chopped garlic head
2 16 oz cans of tomato sauce
1 oz can tomato paste
2 teaspoons each salt and pepper
1 teaspoon each pepper flake and cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon paprika
2 tablespoons cumin powder
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 cups water
Step 1 brown meat and diced onion and chopped garlic in 500 degree oven for 30 minutes
Step 2 add tomato sauce and paste and the rest seasoning and water put back to oven in 350 degree for 30 minutes
Step 3 taste test then add brown sugar
Step 4 serve with shredded cheddar cheese and Texas roast or cracker
