What cut of meat is this likely to be?

Went to the store to get some diezmillo for burritos and saw this. It’s even cheaper than the the diezmillo so just curious on what cut of meat this probably is?

Looks like ground beef to me but it also looks like a butcher counter. Just ask the butcher.

The one in the centre looks like regular chuck. The other I cant make it our, could be pre seasoned.

known a few carniceros in my time and it is most likely a little bit of everything, similar to stew meat in US grocery stores. it is put through a buffalo chopper until finely diced ( not ground). doesn’t make it bad or anything like that, just leftover form trimming the larger cuts. same with the carne al pastor right next to it but for pork

Likely whatever steaks/cuts weren’t moving or they got a great deal on. It’s cheap for a reason. That said, grab a pound. What can it hurt.

Why don’t you ask them 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

The limp onion and cilantro on top of the meat is killing me, what a joke 😂

The people selling it might know what it is.

Chuck. It took me years to figure this out. I don’t know why but finally figured it out and confirmed by breaking down chuck roast from the grocery store into awesome Street tacos

At my local Mexican market, it’s a mix of cuts that didn’t sell, usually the “tougher” cuts. They’ll grind it together to make taco meat. If it’s cheaper, it’s worth grabbing a couple pounds to keep in the freezer.

Let me just point out that aun si habla español, los nombres de cortes pueden ser difícil a traducir.

I bet that ‘carne al pastor’ isn’t pork cooked on a vertical rotisserie..that is just ground pork with a couple packets of Ortega seasoning shaken on I can guarantee 😂

All the leftover trim I used to work at meat department for a Mexican grocery store

What I want to know is why it’s so expensive? It’s almost the same price as those steaks next to it. In my area I’ve never seen that kind taco meat being sold for more than $4/lb

It’s most likely shoulder clod. Or espaldilla in Spanish. This type of meat is cheaper since it has more chewy parts of meat.

But looking at that meat it does look like diesmillo or chuck roll in English. It has lots of white pieces in the meat that comes from the fat in chuck roll. Sometimes meat distribution companies have different grades of chuck. The lower grades are usually used for diced tacos meat. And the higher grades are sliced into steaks.
