Lasooni karela | Chili garlic bitter gourd recipe | Vellulli Kakarakaya | Recipe with karela

Enjoy a delicious recipe with karela / bitter gourd. You can eat it with rice or just as started.

Ingredients:
Bitter gourd: 7 (medium size)
Garlic paste: 2 tsp (teapoons)
Red chili powder: (2 tsp)
Jeera / cumin seeds: (1 tsp)
Haldi / turmeric powder: (1/2 tsp)
Salt

Procedure:
Cut bitter gourd into 3 to 4 cms (centimeters) thick pieces
Remove the pulp and seeds inside and slice the pieces in the middle on one side
Steam cook the bitter gourd pieces in the pressure cooker till 1 whistle
In a plate, take garlic paste (2 tsp), salt, red chili powder (2 tsp), haldi / turmeric powder (1/2 tsp), jeera / cumin seeds (1 tsp)
Mix well
Stuff the red chili garlic paste into the steam cooked bitter gourd pieces
Keep aside the extra red chili garlic paste
In a frying pan , add 4 tablespoons (tbsp) of oil and heat
Add jeera / cumin seeds (1 tsp) and let it splutter
Place the stuffed bitter gourd pieces on the oil so that the cut side is facing the oil
Fry gently
Spread the extra red chili garlic paste on the bitter gourd pieces
Add ½ glass of water
Cover it with lid and let it cook for 5 to 8 minutes
After 5 to 8 minutes, turn the stuffed bitter gourd pieces to other side
Fry properly
Add oil ( 2 tbsp)
Cover it with a lid and cook for 3 minutes
Stir intermittently till the stuffed bitter gourd pieces are completely fried and the chili garlic paste spreads properly on the bitter gourd pieces
Transfer the fried chili garlic stuffed bitter gourd to a serving bowl
Chili garlic bitter gourd recipe is ready to be served
