Hello all, I’m pretty new to growing peppers and even newer to this subreddit and am looking for some insight. Earlier today I harvested a habanero and a scotch bonnet pepper from my garden to do a taste test. The habanero was as expected, spicy, a little sweet, and very peppery. The scotch bonnet was a different story. I took a small bite of the flesh and some of the white inside and originally it tasted like a bell pepper and not spicy at all but after about 10 seconds I got hit with a burst of pepper flavor and a heat level that felt pretty similar to the ghost pepper I had harvested last week (my roommate tried both and agrees with me). I’m wondering if I accidentally cross bred something together to make a super scotch bonnet. I currently have scotch bonnet, habaneros, jalapeños, ghost peppers, Carolina reapers (that flowered but never fruited), and pepperoncini’s.
Tl;dr my scotch bonnet feels abnormally spicy and I’m a noob at this kinda stuff and my mouth won’t stop burning pls help (tasted good tho)
