This is the chili I prepare for the homeless ministry at my “home away from home” church, Lake Gibson United Methodist Church Lakeland, FL. This chili is delicious and very filling. You can stretch the number of servings by serving over rice. We also included cornbread and large chocolate chip cookies with this meal.

We provided a hot meal (4 meals total) every other week for 8 weeks. We were not yet vaccinated at the time. So, we did not stay to serve the guests at Hope House Ministry. The weeks that we did not cook, we collected clothing, snacks, and toiletries for the guests.

If you would like to make a donation to Hope House Ministry, please, send a check or money order to:
Lakeland United Methodist Church – 424 W Daughtery Rd, Lakeland, FL 33809
Write “Hope House Ministry” at the bottom of the check or money order. Donations in any amount will be greatly appreciated.

Delicious meal, yes it is beautiful!

  2. This is a reply to "Dog Storm". Your comment showed up on my phone but not in the comments here. Anyway, I took a look at the site (KKAL.com) as you suggested. I will definitely add a few of my videos and recipes. I am always looking for yummy recipes to make for my family. Thank you so much for the recommendation!

  3. I'm a new cook at a summer camp and I just used your chili. Multiply the servings to feed 110 kids though!

Thank you so much for posting this The kids loved it!

  4. Just made a huge pot for my family can't wait for it to be finished. Thank you for sharing

  5. Lovely video. Looks delicious. We do competitive chili cook-offs, if I were reproducing your chili for a cookoff, I would drain the beans before adding them, and I would use ground pork (less expensive, less fat, great mouth feel). Regardless, your chili looks wonderful, thank you for sharing! 🙂👍

  6. Rice is also something I use to double the servings of soup and chili. Fill 1/3 of the bowl with rice and the rest with the main course. Cooked rice freezes well. It becomes more firm from losing moisture, but I like when that happens. Great for fried rice. I replaced my microwave with a 10-cup rice maker. It's nice not having to babysit rice on the stovetop anymore. In recent years rice has become a bad word to many people. If rice was so bad, most people living in Asia would be diabetic.

  7. I have used this recipe for the last 2 to 3 years and it is a smash every time! Thank you so much. I appreciate it.❤
