Another Sopranos sandwich video over here! This time it’s the pepper and egg sandwich that junior regretted not having. The man is full of regrets and this sandwich might be his deepest one. This is a simple sandwich but perfect in every way. The sandwich originated in Chicago where it was served out of Italian Beef shops during lent when Fridays were meatless. For me, this is an all year round sandwich, it is just too good!

Sounded great until you grated solidified cat vomit all over the bread! Sorry, I'm a migraine sufferer and the smell of mature cheese makes me gag, as it triggers the headaches.
In Chicago Peppers and Eggs have always been "FAMOUS" not for the Sopranos but because its been a good snack lol
Now it is rumored that Sam Giancana was making eggs and peppers when he was murdered
Ah, it has been over 100,000 years since I was created, tasked with overseeing this ring. How fleeting the days seem now, as I reminisce about the Forerunners—an elegant civilization, so far ahead of their time. Their wisdom, their power… gone. The Covenant, blinded by their zealotry, seeks to unravel what they can never comprehend. I fear they will never understand the true purpose of the rings, just as they never understood the Forerunners’ vision. A pity… so much has been lost.
Great sandwich and video but it's weird to think anyone needs a tutorial for this!
From February 2025: Eggs are currently like $15/dozen. I can’t wait to afford to make this delicious-looking sandwich!!!!
tony egg
Add some hot giardienara.
I have been making these for decades.. I live 10 miles SE of Philly… my Nona would often use roasted red peppers instead of the green .. same pepper just at red stage & cooked in olive oi & fresh grated garlic… I like a little heat so I often add the dried red pepper chili flakes… we flip-flop between aged provolone & Cooper sharp cheese… I give an edge to the Cooper sharp.
im 134 years old. i grew up in the desert. ive been eating these for 400 years. so satisfying.
That doesn't look like anything special whatsoever
Most Italian households have their own spin. I grow up with adding a lot of garlic (germ removed) takes away the bitterness. Also added a pinch of oregano and high quality parmigiano romano. Cooked the peppers n onions on high heat to get a char and remain firm but not crispy. All that oil is unnecessary for my personal preference. I also like a day old stale french bread
this was not made famous by The Sopranos ffs, my mother made this all the time
I'm 70 and from Kansas City. I discovered this sandwich in a little shop called Penny's. It was in the alley across from where I worked in 1974. The city had a lot of Italian families, so good food was everywhere. I'd not seen this item before and ordered one. I've been a fan ever since! Delicious! I make 'em at home for my wife and I. Love it!
I live in Mass, pepper and egg is on the menu of every, (non chain) sub shop in the state, year round.
They've been popular long before the sopranos. At least here in Chicago
love your recipe, I like adding potatoes too
I thought the recipe called for vinegar peppers?
My Italian grandmother used to peel the peppers after they were cooked.
Peppers chunks are great with eggs but not in pasta sauce.
Famous by the Sopranos??? I don't think so…been eating this since I was a kid for lent…by the way I'm 70 where the hell did yiu grow up lol
anyone who cuts their onion like that is an absolute fraud in the kitchen
oh nice im gonna buy the ingredients and make this!
I made that today….delish!!!

Ha!
I’m a 154-year-old trans-woman from Sicily, and I’ve eaten these absolutely every day since birth
OMG, what are you thinking mixing butter and olive oil in a dish made famous by an Italian?! That's sacrilege!
needs meat
never add salt to eggs before they're cooked….
it's a beautiful thing
I'm 367 years old and grew up on Mars. When I was a kid, and gridnosh was zorbo, we would have jankoed gnipgnads on gordanzo zaxon. This video makes no sense to me.
No frigging butter and cheese!! The best place was Lenny's Pizza on Broadway around 73rd Street in North Bergen. I ate pepper and egg sandwiches practically every day after school. But NO BUTTER AND CHEESE.
Enough oil for a car
my mother would tell me when I was a young boy that the peppers were the only food that would bite you back.
I look forward to making this! 🙂 Never had it.
Yuck. Commercial eggs
I'm British. This sandwich is not popular across the pond. And after trying the combo of grilled pepper, savoury creamy scrambled egg and optional melting cheese on a buttered homemade long roll, I have no idea why. It's a winning combo.
Junior: Bobby, make my nephew an egg
Bobby: removes wand from breast pocket puts on top hat
Scrambled eggs and peppers in bread sounds gross
That was not made famous by that guy, I was stationed on Governors Island in the 1980's and would go to Defontes Deli and Sanwich Shop in Brooklyn all the time and get the best Peppers, Eggs and Cheese.
Please no cheese
You messed up by not toasting the bread, come on man.
