DO YOU REMEMBER that good old southern cooking? When I was growing up, my granny was my favorite cook. My mama was an amazing cook as well, but there was just something about being in granny’s kitchen.
I have made it so easy for you to learn how to cook like my granny and mama did with cooking tutorials for each and every recipe in our cookbooks. You can see how to order these by visiting us on our website. Oh and no difficult to find or crazy ingredients! Just simple ingredients and really good food.
I am a southern girl born in raised in Collard Valley in Polk County Georgia. We went to church on Sunday, school during the week, the grocery store on Friday’s and that was our life. No vacations, no camping, just plain old southern country people
NOW FOR THIS FAMILY RECIPE:
Hillbilly Hot dog Chili
1 lb. ground chuck
1 medium onion chopped
2 sides of colored sweet pepper chopped
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. basil
8 oz. tomato sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 clove garlic (pressed through garlic press)
Brown ground chuck with onion and peppers. Drain off excess grease (can use paper towels to soak it up). Add remaining ingredients and simmer for 10 minutes.
For Hillbilly dog serve over loaf bread instead of on a bun!

Homemade Slaw
1 small head of cabbage or 1/2 medium head
Grate the cabbage with hand grate or mandolin.
1 large carrot or 2 medium carrots
Peel outside off carrots with a vegetable peeler or scrape it off with knife.
Grate carrot with hand grate or mandolin
Add both to a bowl. Add 1/4 cup of mayonnaise (Blue plate or Dukes)
1 1/2 tsp. apple cider vinegar (not organic raw)
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Mix well. If you used more cabbage you may need to add 1/4 cup more mayo!
Enjoy (it is better after it sits in refrigerator at least a day)

Thanks for watching!
