  2. Nothing wrong with this recipe at all, but I can already think of a lot of changes that I would make in order to get that flavor level turned up to 11, where it belongs. Start with a ton of onion, two large yellow onions for a single pound of lentils. When the onion is mostly cooked down and starts to Brown a little, add about 8 or 10 minutes cloves of garlic, and about a quarter cup, at least two tablespoons, of good quality chili powder. Along with the Tomato paste, I get about a tablespoon of Chipotle puree added as well. There are so many great ways to make chili. Oh and you've got to get the jalapenos in their! Replace those red bell peppers with about five or six jalapenos, and you're really in business.
