Drain chickpeas, saving the liquid, and peel for extra smoothness. Blend chickpeas with one garlic clove, 2 TB lemon juice, ¼ C olive oil, 3-4 tsp seasoning, and pepper strips. Add reserved chickpea liquid until it reaches your desired consistency (~ ¼ C). Top w/ chopped pepper & a drizzle of oil.

  1. I find the easiest way to remove the skins is to do it in water. The skins float and the chickpeas sink, so it's easy to separate. Also, throw in two ice cubes when it's blending for peak smoothness!!

  2. Ohhh this looks lovely!! Plus hummus is healthy. Think we need it after all the food we've eaten over Christmas 😂😂 xx

  3. I'd be super interested in a price breakdown of this versus the same amount of pre-made hummus. about how much does this make, would you say? sorry, it's hard for me to estimate food volume through video. ><

(obviously I know not everyone has access to an Aldi's but their hummus is really good (to me at least, though I'm not a connoisseur of the stuff obviously lol) and for a really reasonable price. I remember you mentioning in a past video how ingredients have in some cases gotten more expensive than just buying the final dish itself from the grocery store already made and I'm curious if this falls into that category. looks delicious either way though, and now I'm hungry! :p)

  4. Tahini is a paste made with sesame seeds. Have you tried sesame seeds with a tiny bit of sesame oil in your grinder. That might work.

  5. (I learnt this trick from Middle Eats) Instead of peeling the chickpeas, you can just boil them to death. The skin breaks down and you get the smoothest hummus ever! Also, it's really helpful to blend with some ice for that smooth texture, but IDK if that would work well without tahini (because the liquid from ice also makes the tahini smoother)

  6. I like your videos . Not fond of all the meals because I super watch sodium, additives etc but your teaching with life, love and compassion spreading how to eat on a tight budget. I like to cut up 2-3 veggies ex carrots n celery maybe a cucumber with humus. Humus is great on wraps with tiny chopped veggies the rolled n cut into pinwheels vs cream cheese n meats n cheese as a alternative. Yum.
