This pepper chicken recipe is bursting with bold flavors — spicy, tangy, and aromatic — all in one bite! It’s the perfect Indian-style chicken recipe for anyone who loves quick cooking without compromising taste.
📝 Ingredients:
– 1 medium sized onion
– 1/2 each of red, orange, yellow, and green bell peppers
– 300 g boneless chicken
– 2 tbsp sliced garlic
– 1.5 tbsp sliced ginger
– 3 tbsp oil
– 1 tsp tomato sauce(optional)
For Marination
– 1 tbsp soy sauce
– 1 tbsp corn flour
-1/2 tsp salt
For Sauce
– 1 tbsp soy sauce
– 1 tbsp red chilli sauce
– 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
– 1/2 to 1 tsp ground black pepper
– 1/2 tsp salt
For Cornflour slurry
– 1 tbsp cornflour
– 1/3 cup water
📝 Instructions:
– Slice the bell peppers and cut the onions into cubes
– Cut the chicken into small bite-sized cubes
– Marinate the chicken with cornflour, soy sauce, and salt. Let it rest for 30 minutes
– Prepare the sauce by mixing together soy sauce, red chilli sauce, brown sugar, ground black pepper and salt
– Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a pan over medium heat and shallow-fry the chicken
– Flip and cook until the chicken is golden and evenly cooked on all sides
– Transfer the cooked chicken to a bowl and set aside
– In the same pan, heat 1 tbsp of oil and add sliced garlic and ginger. Sauté well until the raw smell disappears
– Add the cubed onions, cover, and cook until soft and translucent
– Add the sliced bell peppers, cover, and cook until slightly tender (but not mushy)
– Add the prepared sauce mix and cook the vegetables in it for 2 minutes
– Mix together cornflour and water with no lumps. Pour in the cornflour slurry, simmer, and cook until the sauce thickens and reaches a gentle boil
– Add the fried chicken back to the pan, mix well, and cook for 2 more minutes so the flavors combine
– Optionally add 1 tsp tomato sauce to enhance the tangy-sweet flavor
– Mix well, then turn off the heat
– Cover with a lid and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving
– Serve hot with steamed rice or naan, and enjoy your spicy, tangy pepper chicken!
