Enchilada Plate with Refried Beans

They call themselves a Mexican restaurant. It should be a crime to serve this as Mexican food. Rice was dry. WTH is the carrot radish side? And the Crema fresca was thick! Ugh.

looks like a burrito mojado not an enchilada. at least there’s mexican cheese!

And that’s some soaked burrito, not an enchilada… It’s so wrong in several aspects.

That fried tortilla for the refried beans is diabolical!!! My fatass is up for it!

The carrot and radish are probably the most legit part out of what you called out.

That’s a wet burrito though, not an enchilada.

Got nothing against how they served the refritos though.

I’ve never seen rice mound like that in mexican food. Am I crazy?

Damn, unlocked a memory. Been so long since I’ve seen beans in a corn shell.

Canned sauce. Definitely a CAMF !!

Could do without the cream, eww. Maybe skip the rice too. But that’s delicious. Especially the pickled carrots, that’s rare to see unless it’s actual real mexican food.

Pickled carrots and red onions, along with radish slices, are authentic garnishes

That’s a burrito mojado, not an enchilada. In Ensenada we have a place called El Pandita. They are delicious there.

Okay, but the little tortilla boat for the refritos is kind of cute. Cheese on top is a crime though; where is the queso fresco??

I shall devour this dish with the highest regard. Now where is the fork and knife at?

This is my favorite Mexican American plate lunch. It’s US style rather than what might be served in Mexico so it is sour cream not crema and there’s probably some orange cheese In the food too.

I used to work with a Chinese chef that explained there was American Chinese food like sweet and sour, orange chicken, Kung Pau. He said it was not authentic Chinese but it could be delicious if it was done well. He thought there was something to authenticity but what he personally cared about was food tasting really good.

Personally I much prefer the saucy New Mexican style enchiladas with just New Mexican chilli pods and I think that’s an old regional specialty. I think that makes it kind of authentic, just not what they serve in Sonora or Chihuahua.

Not sure what that is, but I’d eat it. Has all the classic beautiful ingredients needed.
