Cold weather Champurrado

This winter storm hitting I knew it was the perfect time to attempt Champurrado for the first time! Never had it, never made it, but it sounded delicious. Plus I love atole so I figured I’d like it no matter what.

I think I did a decent job! I didn’t have whole cloves so I had to use ground but I don’t think that made much of a difference. I love that it’s almost the consistency of loose grits!

I did go off the rails and add some spiced rum….great idea! Question – is this common to mix with an alcohol? It paired lovely together!
