  5. I appreciate your videos so much but I don’t think adding cans of preseasoned beans with “chili magic “ is fair.
    They shouldn’t allow that in a chili cook off.
    You either season it yourself or you don’t win.

  7. If you’re like me and how I was raised and beans in chili is a sin take a steak cut chuck roast, season it on both sides, and hard sear it over high heat. Don’t worry about it being done, just get a nice crust on both sides and remember, color is flavor. For extra flavor when it’s done add some crushed garlic, herbs, and butter then baste it thoroughly.

    Let it rest and then cut it into nice little chunks, if you think they’re too big don’t worry they’ll get smaller as they cook down. Then add that after your other meat has browned, including the juices on your cutting board!

    Now you’ve got a chili with some body to it and good mouth feel, without mushy beans ruining it. You’re welcome

    I did have a question though a bunch of my Texan friends say that beans don’t belong in chili. I’ve only ever had beans with chili.
