Understanding there are many variations to Mexican cuisine, these sees to have a lot of elements of “authenticness” but some diversions away as well.
I’ve not personally seen these types of shells – they seem to be thick and therefor flour (harina) tacos which many say aren’t authentic Mexican but actually can be – you have a lot of Harina tacos in northern Mexico and it’s available as an option at a number of taco spots even if the vast majority is corn.
However I’ve never seen thicker harina shells doubles up.
These also look to be “dorado” style tortillas, dorado meaning golden, which means fried. It gives a bit of a harder shell, more akin to American/gringo/white folk tacos but is still authentically Mexican.
That said, these almost look… grilled golden?
The thicker hard shell of these also look less authentically Mexican and more Americanized – but there could be some style in Mexico of which I’m not aware. I’m always learning new twists to Mexican cuisine even after nearly 30-40 visits for well over 100-120 days there the past three years!

If you want me to be honest with you, I used to also think that birria tacos were American bc I never saw them in Mexico and saw them only in the USA until I did someone research and realized that they are indeed Mexican.
