RED CHILI vs WHITE CHICKEN CHILI (recipes in description) #chefhusband



*RECIPE BELOW* SOUPER BOWL SOUPS ARE BACK. We’re continuing with our bracket of which soups will reign SOUPREME for the Big Game😏 my chef husband is putting two extremely midwestern soups head to head. Did we get it right. Which one would you choose? Vote in the poll down below!

Red Chili
Ingredients
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 medium onion, diced
• 3 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
• 1 (8 oz) can tomato paste
• 1 can black beans, drained
• 1 can kidney beans, drained
• 1 cup roasted tomatoes or 1 can diced tomatoes
• 2 bay leaves
• 1 tsp pepper
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 Tbsp chili powder
• 2 Tbsp granulated garlic
• 2 tsp cumin
Instructions
1. Brown ground beef in a pot.
2. Add onions and sauté, then add all tomato products (tomato sauce, tomato paste, and roasted or diced tomatoes).
3. Add seasonings and stir well over medium-low heat.
4. Add beans and bay leaves. Simmer on low for 30 minutes.
5. Enjoy with shredded cheese and sour cream if desired.
6. Adjust salt and pepper to taste and add hot sauce to reach desired heat level.

White Chicken Chili
Ingredients
• 4 cups of good chicken broth
• 2 medium chicken breasts
• 1-2 cups of your favorite salsa
• 2 cans of white beans
• 2 cups of shredded medium cheddar
• 1/2 tsp – 1 tsp of favorite hot sauce *optional*
(salt & pepper to taste)

Instructions
1. Heat chicken broth in a soup pot.
2. When the stock is hot, add the raw chicken whole.
3. When chicken is fully cooked, take out and dice. Set aside.
4. Add salsa and beans to broth.
5. Stir in cheese, then add chicken back.
6. Season to taste with salt & pepper.
7. Add hot sauce.

Simmer for 20 minutes and enjoy.

  1. It's always traditional chili. Great on its own, works as a dip, can use it like salsa. The perfect party food in a bowl

  2. Wait a minute. Next week??? What?? That’s just plain mean.
    Guessing this one was shot in the cafe. That was a fun change up.

  3. When we prepared any chili in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, we had to tone down the spices and heat to modest levels. Back in Canada, I play to our crowd and for the Super Bowl, have Texas chili and White Chicken Chili both. Love this video. However, absolutely no beans of any sort in Texas chili. 🌶️
