Mattapeno question

In mid-autumn I planted several peppers for the long term. I figured they would grow as much as they could over the winter, because winters where I live are not very cold and can be quite sunny. In general, this is how it turns out so far, the peppers are not very stretched, they look healthy, but… Among the peppers I planted were Mattapino and also a cross of Mattapino with Mountain Longhorn, I forgot its name. So this cross shows signs of variegation despite the low amount of light, but Mattapino does not. Am I unlucky with the seed or is there still a chance that it will become variegated in full sun?

The variegated plants I’ve grown have always been variegated from seed, they don’t just gain it once you put it outside , it’s possible you just got unlucky with your selection. Did you only start 1 plant?
