Snow, Chili, and Snow Cream

We got a heavy snow in central North Carolina at the end of January. It was a good day to make some chili and snow cream. Note: We wound up getting about 10 inches of snow.

Chili Recipe

1 lb Hamburger
1 green bell pepper
2 jalapeño peppers
1 medium onion
2 tablespoons minced garlic
1 15 ounce canned mixed chili beans
1 15 ounce can diced tomatoes
1 packed chili seasoning
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 tablespoons Worcestershire
2 tablespoon tablespoons Texas Pete
2 tablespoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 tablespoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon cumin
2 tablespoons A1 sauce
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup amaretto (Disaronno)

Dice then sauté the peppers and onions and garlic separately then add to the hamburger when it’s 3/4 done. Mix all other ingredients together. Simmer for two hours.

Note: this is a great to make for camping. It’s easily warmed up and just as good or better.

  1. We always did this in the winter ..over 60 years ago. Biologists have been telling us for the past 40 years…that there is no clean precipitation. I made it one time for my own children…and that was the end of it. And, that is with 3 scientists in the family (biologist, biochemist, and chemist/macrobiologist).

  2. Wow G chilli is the best on days like that! For sure! Or any winter day for that matter ! That stuff, ❄️ hit us a couple days ago pretty good☃️ The brick work on that house looks incredible! That would make an incredible photo! ❄️and 🏠!

  3. Very nice brother, That chilli looked great! I’ve never used A1 in chilli I might have to try that. We even got snow in South Carolina – Real “blizzard conditions here”
