​This traditional recipe combines the crunch of bell peppers with a rich, nutty paste made of sesame seeds and mustard. It’s a perfect blend of spice and tang, making it an ideal side dish for hot steamed rice. Whether you call it Capsicum Aavakura or Simla Mirch Masala, this dish is a must-try for lovers of traditional South Indian flavors.
​Ingredients:
​For the Sauté: Oil, Ural Dal (Black Gram), Jeera (Cumin), Capsicum pieces.
​For the Masala Paste: 2 tsp Sesame seeds, 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds, 1 tsp Rice flour, Salt, Turmeric powder, and Water.
​Quick Method:
​Heat oil in a pan and sauté ural dal and jeera.
​Add capsicum pieces and cook until they turn soft.
​In a mixer, grind sesame seeds, mustard, rice flour, salt, and turmeric with a little water into a fine paste.
​Add this paste to the cooked capsicum, add a splash of water, and mix well.
​Cook for just under 1 minute.
​Serve hot with steamed rice mixed with a little oil or ghee for the best experience!
