Today we’re making a Korean favorite – Korean Chilli Wings – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and coated in a sweet, spicy, tangy Korean sauce. Perfect for a weekend treat, parties, or anytime you want that street-food-meets-restaurant vibe at home!
Here’s the full recipe step by step:
Ingredients:
For Chicken Wings:
500g chicken wings
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
1/4 cup cornflour or potato starch
For Sauce:
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped garlic
2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chilli paste)
1 tbsp ketchup
1.5 tbsp soy sauce
1.5 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1/2 tbsp sesame oil
Garnish:
Roasted sesame seeds
Chopped spring onions
Method:
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Wings
Wash 500g chicken wings and pat dry.
Season with 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and 1/2 tbsp garlic powder.
In a separate bowl, mix 1/4 cup flour and 1/4 cup cornflour.
Coat the wings evenly in the dry mixture.
Step 2: Fry the Wings
Heat oil in a pan or deep fryer to 160°C. Fry wings for 5–6 minutes.
Remove wings and let them rest.
Heat oil to 190°C and fry again for 2–3 minutes until golden and extra crispy.
Step 3: Prepare the Sauce
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan. Add 1 tbsp chopped garlic and lightly sauté.
Add 2 tbsp gochujang, 1 tbsp ketchup, 1.5 tbsp soy sauce, 1.5 tbsp honey (or brown sugar), 1 tbsp rice vinegar, and 1/2 tbsp sesame oil.
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce becomes thick and glossy.
Step 4: Toss the Wings
Add the fried wings to the sauce. Toss well so each wing is coated with the spicy, tangy, sweet glaze.
Step 5: Garnish & Serve
Top with roasted sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.
Serve hot and enjoy the crispy, spicy, addictive Korean Chilli Wings!
Tip: Double frying the wings is the key to getting that perfect crunch while keeping the inside juicy.
