Chili Beans Recipe (Hearty and Flavorful)
This classic chili beans recipe is rich, thick, and perfect with rice, cornbread, or tortilla chips.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 can (15 oz) pinto beans (optional)
1 small onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
1½ cups beef broth (or water)
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin
½ tsp black pepper
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp olive oil
Optional toppings:
Shredded cheese
Green onions
Sour cream
1. Cook the meat
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Add ground beef or ground Turkey and cook until browned.
Drain excess fat.
2. Cook onion and garlic
Add chopped onion and cook 3–4 minutes until soft.
Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
3. Add ingredients
Add kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and broth.
Stir well.
4. Add spices
Add chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper.
Mix and bring to a boil.
5. Simmer
Reduce heat to low.
Simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
The longer it simmers, the better the flavor.
6. Serve
Serve hot with cheese, green onions, or sour cream on top.
Tips
Add jalapeños for extra spice.
Add a little sugar (½ tsp) to balance acidity.
Tastes even better the next day.
