I gave it a shot on Saturday. For context, I have a very high spice tolerance. I have tons of Reaper, Ghost Pepper, Scorpion sauces on my hot sauce shelf. Whenever I get Hattie B’s, I usually get an extra tender/wing or two of Shut the Cluck Up.

My god, this was *way* hotter than anything I’ve had before. The challenge requires you to finish the dish in 10 minutes or less, in which case the meal is free, you get a $25 gift card, and a t-shirt.

I actually didn’t even bother to do the challenge. As soon as I learned the restaurant uses actual ghost peppers in the dish, I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it in 10 minutes. It looked delicious, I love extremely spicy foods, so I just wanted to take my time and enjoy it.

I made it four bites in before having to call it quits and eat some ice cream. I couldn’t do it. The tiny cup in the second picture is the ghost pepper, and they actually gave me *two.* I only used one and it was too much. Also, it tasted like absolute *shit*. Not the dish, but the ghost peppers. Once I really mixed in the ghost pepper into the dish after several minutes, the flavor was diluted enough so that the dish tasted good again, but it was still way too spicy for me to finish. I also made the wise decision to think of my impending future on the toilet and decided to spare myself that miserable experience.

Still, 9/10 purely for the sake of a restaurant advertising a ghost pepper/extreme spicy challenge and actually following through with extreme levels of spicy.
