Chili Dog Tater Tot Casserole Recipe



This Chili Cheese Dog Tater Tot Casserole has everything you love — juicy hot dogs, hearty chili, crispy tater tots, and lots of melty cheese. Perfect for feeding a crowd or just treating yourself to a flavor bomb of a dinner.

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
2 tsp Cooking With Tammy All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning
1 (15 oz) can chili beans, black or kidney beans, drained
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella or Mexican blend
5–6 beef hot dogs, sliced
1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
Optional: jalapeño slices, green onions, sour cream for garnish

🔥 Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C).
2. In a skillet, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, CWT AP seasoning, beans, tomato sauce, and hot dogs. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
4. Pour mixture into a greased 9×13 baking dish.
5. Sprinkle half of the cheese on top.
6. Arrange tater tots evenly over the top.
7. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes or until tots are crispy and golden.
8. Sprinkle remaining cheese over tots and return to oven for 5 minutes to melt.
9. Garnish with green onions, jalapeños, or a drizzle of sour cream.

  1. definitely on the menu thii week … looks good and simple just the way i want my meals .. Im never crazy about real onions and garlic so I use powders or minced onions instead .. do you think that's going to kill it?

  2. Looks good. Gonna make it like that minus hotdogs. Unfortunately my kids and I are badly allergic to hotdogs and mustard but I can make everything else work.

  5. I've made many versions of tater tot hotdish. My kids really liked this one. Even this varied, depending on ingredients on hand. Usually baked it in a 9X13 pan. Allowing for more tots on top. As a single dad, stretching my dollar as far as possible. But, if I didn't have cheese for the top, I heard about it!

    My youngest was in football. Always an end of the year banquet. First year, he drew casserole out of the hat. Asked what he wanted me to make. This, with the hotdogs! I tripled it, and baked it in a turkey roasting pan. You're talking teenage boys, and I knew what was going to happen. Sure enough, there was three small glass dishes with green bean casserole in them. I went home with an empty pan, lots of compliments from the kids and a couple angry mothers. Made it several more times, too. My bad. Know your audience. Lol.
