Has anybody had luck with a hand grinder like this to make fresh Masa?

I use the Masienda masa harina which is excellent, but still not quite as good as tortillas made from freshly ground corn. The trouble is I don’t think there is a tortilleria within 50 miles of me. Has anybody had luck with these small had cranks? Are the results comparable to what I would get at a Tortilleria?

Yup. These hand crank molinos work just fine. You just need to make sure you have a dedicated table to attach it to and also do your best to keep it clean.

I have. But I only nixtamalized my corn once. I am able to get nixtamalized corn now, so now only need to pour it in and just grind it. It is different texture from doing tortillería masa, since it’s a bit more course. But it works well enough.
