15-Minute Hostel-Style Chicken

A quick, budget-friendly chicken recipe perfect for busy days when you have limited time, ingredients, or cooking skills. This 15-minute chicken is packed with bold flavors—slightly spicy, tangy, and saucy—making it a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Serve it with hot rice for a comforting, satisfying meal.

Ingredients
For Marination:
300–400 g boneless chicken (cut into strips or small pieces)
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp garlic (finely chopped or crushed)

For Cooking:
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp garlic (chopped)
1 medium onion (sliced)
Salt to taste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1–2 green chillies (chopped)
3 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp vinegar

For Slurry:
1 tsp cornflour
3–4 tbsp water

Garnish:
Sesame seeds
Fresh coriander (chopped)

Method
Marinate chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic (10 mins). Heat oil, fry chicken until lightly browned. Remove. In the same pan, sauté garlic and onions with a little salt until soft. Add chilli powder and green chillies, cook for a minute. Add ketchup, soy sauce, and vinegar. Mix well. Add chicken back and toss. Add cornflour slurry + a little water, cook till sauce thickens. Garnish with sesame seeds and coriander. Serve hot.
