Crispy Chilli Bites Recipe – Easy Homemade Bajia with Onion, Potato & Green Chillies 🌶️



These crispy chilli bites (bajia) are packed with grated onion, potato, fresh coriander, and crushed spices for a bold, spicy crunch. Perfectly golden on the outside and soft inside, they make a quick and irresistible snack or appetizer.

Ingredients:
• Half cup self-raising flour
• Half cup chana flour
• 1 medium onion (grated)
• 1 medium potato (grated)
• 1 teaspoon crushed cumin
• 1 teaspoon crushed coriander
• 2 teaspoons crushed green chillies
• Fresh coriander
• 1 tablespoon oil
• 1 teaspoon salt

Method:
1. Mixing half a cup of self-rising flour with half a cup of chana flour.
2. Add the grated onion and potato and a generous helping of fresh green chillies and coriander.
3. TIP: For the perfect bajia, add one tablespoon of d’lite Pure Cooking Oil directly to the batter.
4. Stir the mixture until it is thick and chunky.
5. Adding the crushed cumin and coriander seeds – don’t use the fine powder spice because, you want the little bursts of spice from the crushed seeds when you bite into it.
6. Mix it into a thick paste to a ‘drop’ consistency.
7. For the frying, drop your spoonful of the batter into the preheated d’lite Pure Cooking Oil and watch the chilli bites puff up.
8. Once golden brown, please each fried chilli bite on paper towel to drain any excess oil the chilli bites should be crispy on the outside, steaming and spicy on the inside.
9. Serve warm and enjoy!
