Extreme temperatures

Hi, is there anyone from the southern United States or equatorial regions who deals with extreme conditions? I’m from a tropical area, and these months are usually the toughest. It’s been two weeks now reaching 100–110°F with UV indexes of 13–14 every single damn day, and along with the humidity, it’s causing my plants to shrivel from the heat. Where I have them, they get sun from 8 a.m. to 1:45 p.m., but they don’t seem to handle even that amount of sunlight. I’m thinking about buying 50% shade cloth.

Anyone with similar conditions who has managed to reduce this problem?
