Let’s see what we can make using components from MILSPEC MREs. Will we make it better, or a whole lot worse?
Let’s try to make Baghdad Chili, Ranger Pudding, and Field Birthday Cake.

Well that was cool. I kept a big bag of various items in my locker. I used to get pepper flakes from Pizza Hut. Chinese mustard and any other type of spice.
I also had a big brew kit bag with extra coffee, creamer, tea bags and hot chocolate.
AAHHHHH THE MEMORIES … BAGDAD CHILI …. RANGER PUDDING … HAD BOTH SO MANY TIMES …… GOOD EATS !!!!!!!
Hope your gut can handle it! ✌️🇺🇸
👍💪👏❤️🙏🏼
I would keep my hot chocolate drink out of my C-Rations and trade it for the chees and crackers tins.
Now you need to do this with you home made MRE kits
Happy birthday, Pop!
Happy Birthday (posthumously) DBA's Dad, you should be very proud! I am enjoying the frakenMREs, keep them coming! There is some good stuff right there!
I would love to see you make your own meals from your ideas with the MREs. Great video, as usual. Also loved the ode to your Dad. ❤
Happy birthday DBA's dad. I am lucky enough to still have my dad around, he was 95 last November.
This was another great video, and interesting to see what you can do with MRE's, I will be happy to see more like it.
Much love and respect, as always, to you and D'elle, from me, in Sussex, England. xx
For the items left, what items or spices could you bring to the field o improve them?
Good job mixing content up, cheers!
Please give us more of the MRE mixes, Old Army, Definitely Following!
trading and lots of hot sauce
I love how you try really hard to keep this channel fresh. Thank you
Career Air Force here. Had MCIs and LRPs in 'Nam. Later had MREs and TOTMs. Came to your channel because I'm sick of them all. But this episode was a huge helping of nostalgia. BTW, the best thing about MREs is the description on the pouch. Sadly, what's inside never lives up to the mental "taste" that's created.
Happy birthday pop. 🎉 great new series
Great idea for a video series 👍. (BTW, anyone got a good, cost effective source for MREs ? I see those ads on social media all the time, but am always skeptical of places that advertise a lot)
I don't do TikTok, but I did buy 2 cases of MREs. I have yet to try one.
We really did some strange combinations back in the day. This one brings back memories. Thanks.
Great video. Like how you keep bringing us new and different ways to look at MREs and meals.
My favorite 'MASH up' is the Cherry Berry Cobler with the pound cake, the muffin top or even the saltines. The spiced apples also works well with this, but I prefer to warm the fruit choice up.
Another is the chocolate protein drink, coffee, sugar and creamer. Mix together with hot water and knock off Latte.
One of the meals comes with Au gratin potatoes. Drain the chicken chunks and add to the potatoes. Mix with your choice of cheese spread and cover with crushed saltines.
Good idea, nice to see some new recipes for MREs. Check this out. Its old (like me) but good. http://720mpreunion.org/history/index_assets/mre/MRE%20Unofficial%20Recipe%20Booklet.pdf
Back in October picked up a case A and B at $38 each marked for 2026.
Then one the local stores had 2024 dated boxes for $30 each, grabbed three more. Ended up sampling a case a 2024 case B. 10 of 12 were edible entrees.
I enjoyed it i would like to see some more
Always a good time here
That was a fun, informative video and i would like to see more 'mix ups' on the MRE's. I haven't found any MRE's with a good enough price to make me buy them. Happy Angel Birthday to your pops. Have a great week!
Fun idea. Happy birthday to your pops!
One thought with the mashup concept would be to try using store bought items to make the military MREs taste more like home-cooked meals, yes I know it’s a stretch, okay a pulling Stretch Armstrong to the point of leaking syrup stretch. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
I would continue to sneak in recipes from these over this next year. Someone before me mentioned, "what you would do to improve these"? Like take away sauces or spices. I also think you should just improv your own version of a great meal out of what's left before the end of the year. Thanks for the entertaining video Sir.
Well, while you were taking a left at Albuquerque, we continued straight through to Amarillo on our trip home from Las Vegas, to Michigan, via Murfreesboro. 😂. Had a DBA moment every new store along the way, like Casey’s. No MRE items from Casey’s, but the pizza was well worth the stop.
Mid 80s we were given potatoes in addition to MREs at for cold weather training, prior to deployment to Norway. Did the squad meal thing making a hobo stew for my team. Collected canteen cups, potatoes, the freeze dried beef and pork patties, and soup base packets from everyone and set to work. Built a fire, melted snow, scrubbed potatoes with snow and cubed them up into canteen cups heating in the fire. Divvied up the soup base and meat. We crawled into Arctic sleeping bags in a snow shelter that night with a belly full of hot food and had one of the best night’s sleep I recall ever having.
That was a sweet tribute to your dad ❤🥹 Have an awesome week!
Hi Dad!
"Miles from terrible…" love that! I feel that way a lot while eating rations from all over the world!
Great vid!
Take care!
The crackers add much needed crunch and texture to mushy pasta menus and the cheese packs especially the jalapeno are worth their weight in gold on a bland menu.
Happy birthday pops. Love the video. Please more mre hacks
Oh could you make a tuna casserole with the tuna MRE and finding other things to mix in? That could be fun.
Have never bought a case as there are some mains I don't care for. Came up with idea to add a commercial main more to my liking. I like case A more. Keep this one going.
Another great video, thanks for sharing it with us.

A couple of maple muffin tops and the maple pork patty make a reasonable version of a McDonalds McGriddle. Happy Birthday DBA Dad!
My dad was a military survival training instructor. Grew up having lots of fun adventures and didnt realize that he was teaching us important life skills, confidence, mindsets and fitness. Miss him so much. So grateful for all the treasured memories. And he was my biggest champion in my exploring my career aspirations that were pioneering for my female gender.
We have an upcoming ham radio field day with a club in June. Im going to do a flight of different mres, purchased and our store bought along with tried and true walking around snacks. Let club members sample them, see how the heaters work. Will be sharing links to your channel.
This was great! Happy Birthday to your Dad.
Since chocolate is nasty you are better off with plain pound cake
Peanut butter helps the ranger pudding consistency and adds great taste if you like peanut butter.
