In today’s video, I am sharing my Mema’s Chili recipe. This is a family favorite for sure and great for a cool fall day! I hope you enjoy!
Mama’s Chili
2.5 pounds lean ground beef
1 tbsp EVOO
salt and pepper to taste
2 onions, diced
2 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes
1 can beef broth
chili powder (about half of a bottle or a little more 🙂 )
1 bay leaf
2 cans pinto beans, drained and rinsed
Heat the oil, add the meat and start browning, add the onion, salt, and pepper and continue cooking until meat is no longer pink and cooked through.
Then add the 2 cans of crushed tomatoes, the bay leaf and chili powder. Bring up to a boil, then immediately turn down to medium-low to simmer. Add the pinto beans and let simmer for 30 minutes. At this point the chili is ready, just heat the beans through and enjoy! But, if you have the time simmer for the 30 minutes. It makes a difference. Be sure to taste and adjust the seasonings. And the leftovers are great! It just keeps getting better!
