Masoor dal is an important part of the diet in many parts of the world. It is basically split lentils without skin and is red in color. We can make masoor dal in different variations and taste good with chapati or rice. It is a complete meal or you can serve as a side dish.

INGREDIENTS FOR MASOOR DAL WITH GREEN CHILI RECIPE
1 ½ cup Masoor Dal
¼ tsp Red Chili Powder
½ tsp Coriander Powder
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
½ tsp Whole Coriander
3 – 4 cloves of Garlic
7 – 8 Green Chilies Chopped
To taste Salt
1 liter Water
INGREDIENTS FOR TEMPERING
½ medium sliced Onion
½ tsp Cumin Seeds
3 – 4 Red Whole Chili
As Required Oil
DIRECTIONS FOR MASOOR DAL WITH GREEN CHILI RECIPE
1. Wash Masoor dal and soaked for about 15 -20 min.
2. Drain all the water and pour dal in a cooking pot.
3. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, whole coriander seeds, garlic cloves and water.
4. Cook with a lid on for about 25-30 min or until the lentils are tender.
5. Keep stirring from time to time.
6. Now add green chilies and salt, mix well and simmer on low flame for 5 minutes.
7. While the lentils are cooking, make tempering/tadka. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the oil and onion sautƩ for a few minutes.
8. Once the onions start caramelizing add in cumin seeds and red whole chili.
9. Fry for 2 – 3 minutes.
10. Add the tadka to the cooked lentils. And simmer over low heat for another 5 minutes to infuse with flavor.
11. Ready to serve, garnished with fresh coriander leaves and serve with Chapati or basmati rice.
