Chilli Tofu is one of the most popular Indo-Chinese starter dishes. From street carts to restaurants, you will find this dish across the continent. Tofu is an easy substitute for paneer(cottage cheese). Batter fried tofu cubes along with colourful bell peppers and onions are tossed with sauce which adds more texture and taste. This can be prepared in a jiffy without much preparation and its so delicious with full of flavors.
This chilli tofu is one of my favourite Indo Chinese takeaway dishes. People usually aren’t fans of tofu but loved this crispy, spicy tofu. If you’re one of those people, give this tofu a try, you might be surprised!
You can serve this with rice, noodles or as part of a salad. Options are endless with this crispy chilli tofu! Would be great as a meal prep option as well, it’s delicious hot or cold.
Ingredients for Tofu Preparation
Tofu – 300 Grams
All-purpose flour – 6 Tablespoons
Corn Starch – 3 Tablespoons
Salt – 2 Teaspoons
Turmeric Powder – Half Teaspoon
Red Chili Powder – 1 Teaspoon
Oil for Frying

Oil – 2-3 Tablespoons
Chopped Garlic – 3-4 Cloves
Red Chili – 1 Medium
Onion – 1 Small
Onion Bulbs – Half Medium
Red Bell Pepper – Half Medium
Green Bell Pepper – Half Medium
Vinegar – 1 Tablespoon
Red Chili Sauce – 1 Tablespoon
Ketchup – 3 Tablespoons
Soy Sauce – 1 Tablespoon
Salt – 1 Teaspoon
Corn Starch Slurry – 5 Teaspoons
Corn Starch – 1 Tablespoon
Water – 3-4 Tablespoons
Spring Onion Greens
