This easy but Yummy spicy recipe has to be one of the best dishes to serve to family during lunch,dinner and snacks and also to friends during casual gathering or get together .
Chili Con Carne Ingredients :
Oil for sauteing
1 onion – chopped
4 cloves minced garlic
750 g minced beef
400g can x 2 cans chopped tomatoes
400g can red kidney beans
2 red bell pepper/ capsicum thinly diced
2 tsp paprika
1 /2 c Banana catsup
Salt & pepper to season
1/4 cup water
1 tsp chili powder
Procedure:
1. Pre-heat a pan/ pot and once heated put small amount of oil. .
2.Sauteā onion and garlic till soft and tender.
2. Add mince beef and continue sauteing till the beef is golden brown. Give it a good mix to remove clumps.
3.Add in salt, pepper, and paprika . I always add chili powder last . Some use cumin powder but i removed it from my ingredients as my children dont like the taste and smell of it . Mix it well.
4.Add in red beans, diced bell peppers, chopped tomatoes, a bit of water and banana catsup . Give it another good stir.
5. Let it simmer on medium to low heat for 20 minutes. Stir occassionally to prevent sauce from sticking on the bottom of the pan/pot.
6.Add in a bit more of the other spices and seasoning ingredients like salt , paprika and pepper if still needed accdg to your taste .
Then add chili powder last . Then let it simmer for another 5 minutes .
7.Once the sauce has thickened but still moist and juicy remove it from the heat and ready to serve.
8.Best serve with 1) rice and sour cream or 2) as toppings for nachos with cheese or 3) with pasta and cheese . Enjoy eating .
Note: if you use dry kidney beans , make sure to soak the kidney beans overnight and pre cooked it before using it to your chili con carne recipe .
If you dont have red kidney beans you can use canned pork and beans .
