Please note that this recipe is almost entirely customizable to what you would like to use in it. Feel free to do whatever you want with it.
Ingredients:
1 can (16 oz) Refried Beans
1 small can (10 oz) Diced Tomatoes and Green Chiles
1 can (16 oz) Black Beans, drained
1 can (16 oz) Chili Beans
1 package (12 oz) MorningStar Farms Grillers Crumbles
Optional Ingredients:
Parmesan Cheese (to taste)
Chili Spice (to taste)
Ground Cayenne pepper (to taste, but I don’t recommend adding more than a small dash.)
*YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE THE BRANDS THAT I USED, THEY ARE JUST THE ONES THAT I PREFER.*
Tools:
1 large pot
1 top that fits said pot as well as possible
1 wooden spoon
1 saucer (optional, for placing spoon on so the chili doesn’t create a mess)
1 ladle (optional, for serving. you can serve it with a wooden spoon if you want.)
Instructions:
1. Put all ingredients except for the spices in the pot.
2. Mix them together very well.
3. Turn on the heat to medium low.
4. Set a 25-30 minute timer.
5. Let it cook. Stir the chili every 5 minutes to make sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
6. When the timer reaches 15 minutes, add any spices that you want and mix it in well.
7. Serve when it is finished!
If it is not completely heated by the time it is done, just continue to heat it up until it is. (Duh)
Substitutions:
-To make an entirely vegetarian recipe, use vegetarian refried beans. It will say so on the package. Make sure the chili beans you use are vegetarian.
-To use real beef in your recipe, cook 12 ounces of ground beef until completely done, and season it with chili seasoning. Add it like you normally would with all the other ingredients. You may not have to cook it as long if you use this method. I recommend still cooking it for 25 minutes, just in case.
-If you cannot access MorningStar Farm Grillers Crumbles, you can use 12 ounces of pretty much any plant-based beef substituion. No I am not sponsored by them, but I have only done this recipe using that specific brand.
