Honey Chilli Lotus Stem Recipe :

Lotus Stem – 2 nos

For Dusting:

Maida – 2 tbsp
Corn Flour – 2 tbsp
Salt – ¼ tsp

Sauce:

Oil – 2 tbsp
Garlic (finely chopped) – 1 ½ tbsp
Red Chilli Flakes – 1 tsp
Sesame Seeds – 1 tsp + For Garnish
Tomato Ketchup – 2 tbsp
Vinegar – 1 tsp
Soy Sauce – 1 tsp
Red Chilli Sauce – 1 tsp
Salt – ¼ tsp
Honey – 2 tbsp
Water – ¼ Cup + 2 tbsp
Corn Flour – 1 tsp
Oil – To Deep Fry
Spring Onion – For Garnish

Cooking Instructions:

1. Peel the skin of the lotus stem and slice thinly. Soak them in water and drain.

2. Dust the stems with cornflour, maida, and salt to form a coating.

3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and deep fry on medium-high heat until it is crispy and golden. Drain and keep aside.
4. In a pan, heat oil, add chopped garlic, chilli flakes, sesame seeds. Saute until the garlic is golden brown.

5. Add tomato ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, red chilli sauce, salt, honey and stir to make a sauce.

6. Mix 1 tsp of cornflour with 2 tbsp of water to form a slurry. Add the cornflour mixture to the pan and mix.

7. Once the sauce thickens, add the fried stems. Stir fry for 2 mins.

8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and sesame seeds.
