Chili is a versatile option that’s always a crowd-pleaser. Whether you use beef, lamb, chicken, pork, or a combination of meats. Beans or no beans, chili can be customized to any taste. This recipe is a good base for any variations.
We prefer a mild chili, but it can easily be spiced up by adding jalapenos, habaneros, or if you are truly adventurous ghost peppers. Just add the chili of your choice while cooking the meat to infuse the flavor throughout the soup. If you want to add even more of a kick, add some cayenne pepper in the meat, and after the beans and tomatoes are added to the pan.
Once you’ve made your chili, there are as many toppings and combinations to go with your chili as there are taste buds. My favorite way to eat my chili is to make a Frito Pie. To make a Frito Pie, simply add a handful of Fritos to the bottom of your bowl, spoon the chili over the chips, and add cheese, sour cream, or onions as the toppings.
