Whilst riding in a rickshaw in Bombay (in India); I was feeling rather hungry and suddenly I saw a sign for “Mumbai Bhajia Station”…
…actually wishful thinking, we were in reality walking around in Leicester (but could just as well have been in India with the sights, sounds & aromas that were filling the air).
You may recall, we recorded a couple of videos a few years ago at Mumbai Sandwich, well the good news is that they now have a “Sister” shop named: “Mumbai Bhajia Station” – it’s a shop devoted to serving up home cooked Bhajias, Pakoras, Methi na Gotas and more…
This wonderful new Desi cafe is a welcome addition to the famous Belgrave Road “Golden Mile” food cooked just like you would get in India.
CRISPY POTATO BHAJIA RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
* Gram Flour (Besan)
* Ginger & Garlic Paste
* Turmeric Powder
* Salt
* Finely minced Green Chillies
* Chopped fresh Green Coriander
* Thinly sliced Potatoes
* Water
* Oil for frying
The bhajia batter consistancy should be as seen in the video at: 02:12
Once fried the Bhajias are sprinkled with Mumbai Sandwich Station’s “Special” Masala Powder.
The freshly fried Bhajias are served with a Red Tomato Chutney
As you see in the video, Mumbai Sandwich Station make a great effort to drain as much oil as possible out of the fried Pakoras.
METHI NA GOTA (FRESH FENUGREEK LEAVES FRITTERS) RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
* Red Onion
* Methi (Fresh Fenugreek Leaves)
* Boiled Potato
* Gram Flour (Besan)
* Finely minced Green Chillies
* Ginger & Garlic Paste
* Turmeric Powder
* Salt
* Baking Powder
Both the above recipes are pure vegetarian (vegan)
