How to make the best chili with ground Turkey @ Delicious Hugs
1-2 tablespoon oil or bacon fat
1 cup chopped onions (fresh/frozen)
1 pound ground turkey
1 tablespoon of minced garlic
1 Mild chili seasoning packet
1- 14 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes (purƩe)
1-15 ounce can of tri-bean blend (black, pinto, kidney) rinsed, drained
1-15 ounce can of chickpeas, rinsed; drained
1/2 cup chicken stock (low sodium)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally until translucent.
Add the garlic and sautƩ 1-3 minutes.
Add the ground turkey and cook until light brown.
Break up the meat with a potato masher and continue to cook until the meat is done.
Stir in the chili seasoning packet, tomatoes and beans.
Lower the heat, and simmer for 30
minutes (or until beans are tender).
Add chicken stock if chili is too thick. Season to taste, (if needed) with salt, pepper, or your favorite hot sauce.
Enjoy with Fritos, cornbread, or crackers!
Note: If you want more tomatoes please add another can of fire roasted tomatoes, tomato sauce, or tomato paste.
