To begin with, let’s make a sweet and tangy sauce to add a little extra flavor to our chili tempeh. mix 1/4 tsp of jaggery powder with 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar and 2 tbsp of cooked tomato puree. keep aside.
Heat 1 tsp of oil and throw in minced garlic and ginger. After a minute, throw in onion cubes. After a little stir, it’s time to sautee the capsicum cubes. You don’t have to fry the stuff a lot. Sprinkle 1/4 tsp of black pepper powder and 1/2 tsp of salt and cook a little. Now the star of the show enters the game. Bring your tempeh cubes out of the refrigerator and toss the protein bombs along with other spices. It takes only 2 minutes to fry the stuff. You don’t need to deep fry these beauties either. These are pre-marinated with chemical-free ingredients and packaged with utmost care.
Finally, our sweet and tangy sauce goes in along with 2 tbsp of rice water. I have used fermented rice water here. But it’s okay to use 1 tbsp of plain water if fermented rice is not available.
Now you don’t need to cook any longer. Toasted sesame seeds sparkle like stars on cooked veg chili tempeh for a little extra crunch and nutrition. Enjoy with chapati or fried rice. I keep my meals simple and healthy.
