I made JACKET POTATOES for dinner | Baked Potato Recipe

Today I am going to show you one of my husband’s favorite recipes from when he lived in South England. Jacket potatoes are roasted or baked potatoes made with a variety of toppings. Today I am going to make homemade turkey chili to top these fluffy tender baked potatoes.

Welcome to the Simply Mamá Cooks YouTube Channel! I am a Mom to a blended Korean / Mexican American family who loves to share what I cook in my home. I am still learning and enjoying the process of making home-cooked food.

  1. I have always made chili with beans but my husband will no longer eat it that way. I tried adding corn, and he’s like no. So now I add extra tomatoes to stretch it. Had a nutritionist tell me chicken broth more nutritious so I buy only chicken broth and add kitchen bouquet if I need darker color! TFS!

  2. My boyfriend and I always debate the chili with beans or without. I only ever knew it with beans and that's how I like it. He does too but he always mentions the no bean chili option. I always say what's chili without beans?!? Lol. I'm a texan too.

  3. I couldnt watch the video. The way you are cutting those potatoes in your hand scares the hell out of me. Put the potato down and cut it like a normal human being.

  4. I make my chili with beans and corn . I'm dutch . Yes with beans in your chili it stretches the amound you have so it gives me chili for 3 days that i freeze.

  5. I’m pro beans. Your chili potato combo looks delicious. I also put cottage cheese on a
baked tater for a quick easy meal.

  6. I like chili on half of my potatoes and steamed broccoli on the other and shredded cheddar over all.

  7. Mrs. Girrrrl don't listen to all them ppl who love to give critical opinions your chilly bns look yuumm❤🤤

  10. Texas girl born and raised. Gotta have beans in my chili except when I make Frito pie. Then it's no beans! Thank you for another great recipe Angelica!

  11. We make this all the time when I have left over chilli beans and when I have left over chicken alfredo and we do pizza potatos and carnitas the toppings are endless I didnt know that was a thing so cool gonna show my daughter this cause she wanted a Naples potato and I had the chilli beans and that's how it started lol

  12. Hi, I’m in Virginia and have never seen that cheese but it sounds heavenly. Whenever I make chili I usually make baked potatoes the next day and put over. So good.

  13. I get really tickled at the various food debates, chili, gravy, sweet or not cornbread … I'm like you. I like both types of chili. Nothing quite compares to a proper beef chunk chili, but it's not fast, like ground meat and beans chili is. My mom, from England, used pork and beans for her beans on toast. She's older than your husband, so not sure she ever thought about putting anything on baked potatoes. The cross cut is brilliant.

  14. Did you know you can crock pot potatoes? We had baked potato day at work and I walked in to my friend fussing with them in the crock pot. I figured we were using the microwave. They were great.

  15. I have been following you for quite a few years and I have your cookbook I like jacket potatoes and I live in Bournemouth England.

  16. Hiiiiiii pretty lady nice recipe thanks so much I just subscribed to your channel ❤🤗👍🥰

  17. This I gotta try! You scored potatoes perfectly as when you went to add butter that potato opened perfectly! Now I see reason for scoring it in an “X” pattern. Great idea & thanks for sharing.

  18. For anyone who likes to know for sure when baked spuds are done – poke them with an instant read thermometer and when they're 210°F – they're done!

I like to point out to folks who moan about beans that I've never seen a recipe for authentic chili that has tomatoes in it either so let people do what they want with their own pot of red.

  19. Traditionally, beans were a condiment served along side the chili in old San Antonio. The argument of "beans in chili?" misses the point.

  20. This is fantastic! I know it! 😊 So why do i never do this or something similar?! 😄😄 the sky is the limit on yummy options.

  21. The whole conversation about chilie with beans or not is ridiculous. If you don't want them then don't use them. There is no "wrong" involved. I just visited family…. spring time! They insisted I make a pot of Chilie before I went back home to Kansas. Yes, I used beans! 😊 Most times i do, heavy in meat. It can be said no beef, no ground meat, no tomatoe. But i have made it multiple ways , differing beans etc. Its just a great way to feed hungry people. No wrong in anyway!
