impressive work
I find it hard to believe that this will work on squirrels and chipmunks because they have been feasting in my habanero pepper plants, including the unrippened fruit which is hotter than the ripened fruits.
LOL I feel sorry for the next person brewing a cup of tea from that POT.. Their gonna blow their lips off from the heat from the last batch of hot pepper tea.
Does this actually work?
Wow. Very creative repellent. Thanks
It worked for me, either that or in coincided with him getting hit by a car but I never saw Merle the Squirrel again after using this
Try adding some garlic to the mix. This is a nasty addition for them.
This seems expensive, spices are very pricey, is there an effective product at Home Depot?
I just tried this. Now, my spray bottle is hopelessly clogged. Soon, our sunflowers will start blooming. Have to keep the gray squirrels OFF the flowers. They love to feast on them.
Will this come off when I lean the herbs I am growing if I spray them ? I want to spray them on my basil but I don't want to taste it when I am cooking ?
This is bullshit. Cayenne isn't nearly as hot as the orange peppers. I made this and I could taste it but it was weak. Then I made a batch with orange peppers. IT WAS STRONGER THAN MACE!!
I hope this works for some. It did Jack all for me; the 17+tree squirrels feasted on my garden with no problems.
Does not work on our pesky squirrels here in the UK.
I roasted some Mexican chiles and made her a rub no more squirrel or sinus congestion for me
Needs to be filtered thru a coffee filter. It will clog.
Will the spices affect the plants or flowers?
This rodent spray solved my problem!

It won't harm my plant's or the birds?
My squirrel "repellent": a tiny piece of lead, about .22 in diameter, traveling at the speed of sound.
what effect will this have on the plant itself?
I make 2gal for sprayer around the house, seal large massing jars basic 1/3 cup of each type hot peppers, vinegar, silt last nature cooking! I call it monster pepper tea, I let it sit 1-3wks counts how I feel! Seen wild pest animal digging into the wall outside the home, didn't know what was? only hear chewing inside wall, I guess where it was getting inside I spray it, I saw its eyes were open like 10miles wide, it was about 5ft in front of me stop like 3min looking at me then ran away! Never see it come no then enter the wall again
I have used commercially prepared chili laced bird seed (appears to be chili oil) as well as fresh cayenne powder; the local grey squirrels seem to be immune. The grey squirrels have even found a way to circumvent the Slinkys (regular and mini) encompassing the feeder pole. The red squirrels are deterred however and seem to retain the memory.
They really hate garlic also!
I would hesitate to use chili powder in the mix. Chili powder can containssalt and silicon dioxide. If a bird ingests it, it could possibly be harmful to them.
I used Carolina Reaper and that still had NO Effect on the squirrels.. They are still coming around.
doesn't work at all
Thank you! This worked perfectly in my potted annuals.
The age and quality of your spices will affect the potency of this spray. This is a great starter video. To make it even better, add measurements or proportions of spices to water. Other have commented that steeping long than overnight may be more effective. I used 1tsp each cayenne, chili, white and black peppers (penzeys) with the rest of the garlic (~1/4 tsp) to 1/3 cup boiling water.
Just get pepper spray.
I tried this and so far it looks like it works. In addition to spraying the bird seed, I also sprayed it on the suet I have hanging. You can tell that the squirrels are affected by the smell. They used to hang on the suet holder and chow down, now they sniff it and leave it alone. I spray the outside of the bird feeder too. So far it’s working. But I never underestimate the cleverness of squirrels. They’ll probably show up with a carton of milk. I don’t have a mortar and pestle or a tea strainer. So made a tea bag using a coffee filter. I put about a table spoon of each ingredient in a coffee filter and tied it up with a twisty tie and let it seep overnight.
Will this work to keep the damn pest out of my car and chewing my wires. Which they have done 3 times in 6 months. Costing thousands of $$$ in repairs. I need something to work
Can I use these to keep feral and stray cats from my bluebird nest-box until my Noel guard comes I ordered?
It doesn’t work here in central Minnesota – I lightly coated a shelled walnut half – the squirrel ate it !

Thank you, I am going to try this
No, it never worked for me, in fact we had 3 extra squirrels arrive on top of the 4 we usually get.
This didn't work for me they ate like the leaves and bird food was popcorn
I am going try it
why would you want to harm and starve squirrels.. that is just cruel..
Nothing works, nothing 😢
