It’s been over a year since a shortage of Sriracha was announced in the U.S. Huy Fong Foods, the manufacturer of the hot sauce, says it doesn’t have an estimate for when the chili peppers it uses will be fully available again due to severe drought in Mexico. Griffin Hammond, a filmmaker who directed the 2013 documentary “Sriracha,” joined CBS News to talk about the situation.

Us asian ppls can't live without rooster sauce.. need them!!!
Make your own people! They’re easy to grow!
ive tried two other brands they are not the same. smh i guess i will just sell my body for the real thing. lmao
Huy Fong Foods should have stuck with the farmer they originally sourced from.
I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the days when Sriracha was readily available. Come back, my spicy companion! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR4SGAfAAqM&t=3s
The company isn't even trying to locate a different source for the peppers that go into the sauce because of the drought. I called a couple of places last year to see if anyone was interested but everyone is having trouble understanding what's needed. Where I am we may be a little too cool for them to be ready when they need them. I couldn't even get a straight answer on what peppers and how much. Tons, I think.
I dont like spicy …..so i wont contribute to the shortage. 🔥 🥵
“Even another pepper.” The day that happens, Ben&Jerry will start using rGBH milk. 6:26
Please please PLEASE bring back siracha suace. I really love it and I hope the shortage ends next year maybe
I heard the own has personal problems with addiction and money. Who would with all that money. More money more problems
Show the financials and that will explain why they created the shortage.
This hot sauce is not hot enough
Chili sources in Mexico; isn’t that a source country for Lead in the Chile?? Crap…
This is the biggest news out there. This is the news the people want. I want an hour long special.
As a Vietnamese dude, I still only used this on Pho lol. It never came across my mind to use it on other things. Did not realize how much other people loved it until I heard about this shortage.
Since the changed their chili peppers the taste and quality has not been the same
Thank you for reminding me of everything I hate about you lying corporate 'news' hacks…. Maybe you fake plastic people could all just be fired? It would be nice.
Chinese Brand… Teases Good.
I was wondering why I can’t find it on the local shelves… guess I’ll ration out my last few drops.
They're still $3.99 at my local grocery store
I bought a 8lbs container of the paste like a year and a half ago put it in the back of the fridge and I paid 20bucks now at my local international grocery store its 89bucks lasts a long time but remember it's sauce you can make it
Inexcusable
cant beat the sriracha on eggs. cheese, bacon and egg sandwich with sriracha is pure heaven
I guess ill have to use chili garlic sauce
Time for a replacement.
There are more of that sauce from the original place in Thailand! This Chicken brand is imitation.
It used to be $3.49 a bottle. Now it's like $29.60 a bottle.
I don't freak out about this sauce because I always make my own 's nothing as good as homemade lol
there are a whole bunch of srirachi bootlegs out there now.
I tried it twice… both times were a disappointment.
it wont hurt the company regardless, they've been selling way more with a much bigger reach internationally
Make it at home. I have no problems getting sriracha they. sell it at my Costco in a 2 pack
We have lots of Sriracha in Mongolia
i can live without it, i dont even like it
People are stupuid.
There are no Patent on this recepie so if you buy an off brand it's the same sauce.
The guy who created the sauce didn't take out a patent because he wanted everyone to be able to have the sauce no matter where they live.
So just buy some off brands and you will find that several of them tastes the same.
I don't like vinegary salsas. Not sure why this is so popular.
Nope not a drought!!watch the story about this company. He refused to sell his company so the world powers that be are punishing him☹️
Just bought 4 large bottles at a vietnamese supermarket was 8.99 a bottle
I still have 2 Huy Fong 136 ounce /8.5 lbs bottle in my pantry ❤😂
it's probably a fake shortage to get prices up, everythings fine here in Switzerland, they could have just imported it from here
